I’ll let Tim take this one, since I’m more drawn in by Matt Damon’s form than the fact that this is an “inspiring true story.” Of course, the physical can be inspiring as well. (As long as it’s not ruined with a bad South African accent.)

I still think Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is the real wild-card here considering the popularity of the Baracus character (originally played by Mr. T), but Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper are looking pretty good. As the vampire-version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Willow liked to say, ”Bored now.” Maybe that’s not completely true for every minute of Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant, but it certainly applies more often than not.
It feels like the fun wonderment of Where the Wild Things Are has been clobbered with a dirt clod and killed. What was once a fun and light-hearted story – at least to my childish mind – has been completely turned around to be a sad, melancholy story of losing innocence and growing up.
