Big Fan Trailer

"How do you get a concussion when you got no brains?"

I’ve never really understood sports fanatics. Or even fans, for that matter. The type of visceral reaction one can get from watching a good or bad game is an interesting psychological equation. It seems even more complicated for Patton Oswalt’s character, Paul, in Big Fan. Judging from the trailer, the film does appear pretty damn compelling, and albeit depressing as hell. Or course, anything with Marcia Jean Kurtz is bound to have a melancholy feel to it.

From what I can tell, this is Oswalt’s firs time leading a film. I’ve always enjoyed him in his slappy sidekick roles, so it’ll be interesting to see how he carries Big Fan. Perhaps to a touchdown? Too, this marks Robert Siegel’s first time directing a film, who just happen to be the writer of one of my favorite films, The Wrestler.
