500 Days of Summer

"They used to call me anal girl"
I’m definitely not a fan of romantic comedies (or “rom-coms” as some like to call them), but I have to say 500 Days of Summer looks pretty good. Unlike that Adventureland drivel of a few months back, this film actually looks like it’s not overreaching and, in fact, is lead by a talented duo. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has certainly grown up since his days on “3rd Rock,” and Zooey Deschanel hasn’t worn through her appeal just yet; The Happening hurt. And don’t ask me why, but I have an odd affinity for Clark Gregg.
The other little-film-that-could on the horizon in this genre is Paper Heart (due out in Aug), which despite having a touching story at its center, seems that it will be overshadowed by too many familiar faces and re-run performances. 500 Days of Summer appears the seasonal romance of choice. That is, if you’re looking for that sort of thing.
